Mother’s Day 2013

HappyMothersDay1

It is that time of the year again when children in many countries of the world celebrate Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day is a day for children to show their appreciation towards mothers and mother figures worldwide. It is an annual event but is held at different dates in the calendar, depending on the country.

Have a look at two of my earlier Mother’s Day articles in which I give a detailed history of the origin of Mother’s Day, both ancient and modern

Mother’s Day – The Hand that Rocks the Cradle

Mother’s Day- Mother’s Appreciation Day

It is an unfortunate and sad fact of life that in many parts of the world today, Women and Mothers are not shown the honour and respect they deserve.

Although every day, we should show our mothers how much we appreciate and love them, Mother’s Day gives us the opportunity to “make a fuss of them” in a special way.

And don’t forget the Grandmothers and the special role they play in the Family and Society.

GRANDMOTHER’S TALENT

A grandmother has a special talent – she always knows just what to do

To make her grandchildren happy and to show she loves them, too.

At the family get-togethers she’s the first person to look for ~

She can entertain small children for hours and they always keep asking for more.

You can tell when a grandmother’s teasing by the twinkle that shines in her eyes ~

She’s and expert at settling problems for she’s loving, patient and wise.

Her grandchildren always admire her, even when they are grown ~

They always feel proud and happy to claim Grandmother as their own.

3 Mothers, 2 Grandmothers, 1 Great-grandmother

3 Mothers,
2 Grandmothers,
1 Great-grandmother

I have every reason to remember my Mother and the many sacrifices she made for me.

If she had not travelled many miles on foot and by tram to the Children’s Hospital each day for the first few months of my life, so that I could receive treatment, I would not be here today to tell the story.

My mother was always an encourager who believed I could do anything to which, I set my mind . She along with my Dad taught me the  values for life, which they modelled by their own behaviour.

Many of you, like me, may have only memories, as your Mother has passed on.

For those of you who are enjoying motherhood, my wish and prayer is that this will be a very Happy Mother’s Day
